Chat Server-cum-Client

I started writing this program bcoz my Yahoo! Pager was slow in connecting and took a long time to send the messages to my friend. So I wrote this program to make life easier for us. Then when I started using BeOS for browsing on the net I found I was not able to chat with my friend and so I decided to port my program to BeOS. First I decided to use Java, and did so. I got bugged by its slow response and awful interface and so I decided to port the program once again, but now using the native API of BeOS. Thus a 3rd port was born.

The program can send messages and dialog boxes. I use the Dialog box option if I think my friend is in another window and I want to alert my friend. In BeOS I decided to make the dialog box visible in all the workspaces (for Windows users - a workspace is like a Desktop and BeOS has multiple workspaces). The Java version needs more tinkering to make it work more efficiently. So kindly bear with it. I tested my chat program in Win95 and Win98 but didn't get the chance to test it in WinNT. I have also tested the java version partly in Linux. It works fine as far as I know.
